as everyone may have noticed (or not noticed) i have not posted in quite a long time. let’s just say i got a bit sidetracked and had a hard time remembering that i had a blog. in any event, i’ve just moved to a new city, so i figured this was the perfect time to start once again. okay, i’m lying. someone told me it was a good time to start again, but i suppose i agree…so here i am.
as of twelve days ago, i am officially a resident of fort lauderdale, florida. i threw everything i owned (read: some of what i owned. who am i kidding, i had to ship over two hundred pounds of stuff via ups) into my beloved yaris and drove the one thousand thirty-three miles from my previous place of employment to this wonderfully hot place. some might even call it paradise. i must admit, i had only previously thought about coming this far south on vacation.
it was strange at first, what with it being ninety-five degrees outside and all, but i’ve managed to become quickly acclimated. in fact, just this weekend i made the journey back home to iowa and found myself shivering and needing to wear a big puffy jacket after the sun went down. i’m pretty sure it was still like sixty degrees outside.
for now, i am spending my time apartment searching and figuring out how to make friends in this strange place. oh yes, and i am working.
side note: palmetto bugs are not in fact in any way, shape or form cute. don’t let the name fool you. they are giant cockroaches, and this i will not get used to.
